Exterior and design
The Yaris is a compact sedan with a design that resembles the older Xli and GLi but is a little more aggressive, with a small front grille. Halogen headlamps are standard, daytime running lights and fog lamps appear on top trims, rear LED lamps are standard and chrome garnish is added on the top three variants.
Interior, space and comfort
The cabin is clean and simple, with a 6.8-inch touchscreen on the top two trims and a 3-line LCD on lower trims. The speaker count rises from two to four to six by trim. It seats five and the boot is about 476 litres. Rear space is a highlight for its size, while interior plastics and fit-finish are basic.
Engine and performance
The 16-valve DOHC engines are tuned for smooth, economical city driving. The CVT variants have a sport sequential mode for a more engaged feel on open roads. It is not a performance car, but it is easy to drive and cheap to run.
Ride and handling
The Yaris is easy to drive in town and turns well at low speed. Highway performance is more modest and the engine is not built for sporty driving. Some reviews mention noticeable body roll in corners.
Real-world fuel economy
Estimates are about 12 to 14 km/l in the city and 15 to 16 km/l on the highway, with a 42-litre tank. One owner reports a little over 15 km/l.
Safety
Traction control, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, immobilizer and key-reminder warning. Airbag count varies by trim, and the rear camera and parking sensors are on top variants.
Technology and features
Automatic climate control and a 6.8-inch touchscreen on the top two variants, navigation, push start and driving modes on higher trims, steering-wheel controls, Bluetooth, AUX and two USB ports.
Variants available in Pakistan
GLI MT 1.3, GLI CVT 1.3, ATIV MT 1.3, ATIV CVT 1.3 and ATIV X CVT 1.5 (beige or black interior). Other trims such as AERO and ATIV X MT 1.5 have also been listed.
Colours
Silver Metallic, Strong Blue, Super White, Phantom Brown, Grey Graphite and Attitude Black are listed. Please ask us which are available for your variant.
Maintenance, parts, resale and warranty
Local spare parts are widely available and routine maintenance is inexpensive, although imported body parts can cost more. The used-car market for the Yaris is active and the Toyota badge supports resale. Official Toyota Pakistan warranty and support apply; please confirm the duration with our team.
Main rivals
Honda City is the main rival and is more spacious with better mileage according to published comparisons. Proton Saga is smaller, and Changan Alsvin offers more power and features but less size and tank capacity.
