Exterior and design

The current Altis X has a wider-looking front end with a chrome and mesh grille, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a refreshed two-tone rear bumper. Upper trims ride on 16-inch alloy wheels and the side mirrors are retractable. The shape is conservative on purpose, which is one reason the Corolla still looks right years after purchase.

Interior, space and comfort

Higher trims use leather upholstery with reclining rear seats, an Optitron meter cluster and a multi-information TFT display. The dashboard layout is ergonomic and easy to learn, and the boot holds about 470 litres. The one common complaint is that there are no rear AC vents, which rear passengers notice in summer.

Engine and performance

Both engines use Dual VVT-i and an Acoustic Control Induction System to balance low-end response and highway cruising. The 1.6 is the easy-driving choice for city use, while the 1.8 gives noticeably better overtaking on the motorway. Higher 1.8 trims add driving modes and paddle shifters.

Ride and handling

The ride is soft and comfortable on city roads and the car feels settled on the motorway. Some owners find road grip on wet or uneven surfaces average compared with the Civic, so it rewards relaxed driving more than quick cornering.

Real-world fuel economy

Published figures range from about 10 to 17 km/l depending on the source. As a rule, the 1.6-litre is the more economical of the two engines and the 1.8-litre uses a little more fuel in exchange for stronger overtaking. Your own average will depend on traffic, AC use and driving style.

Safety

Dual SRS airbags, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, seat belt pretensioners and force limiters, immobilizer with alarm and a GOA body structure with crumple zones.

Technology and features

9-inch infotainment with navigation, Bluetooth, smartphone connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot, Toyota Connect app, leather upholstery on higher trims, reclining rear seats, Optitron meter cluster with multi-information TFT display, rear USB charging, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and retractable side mirrors.

Variants available in Pakistan

Altis X Manual 1.6, Altis 1.6 X CVT-i, Altis X CVT-i 1.8, Altis 1.6 X CVT-i Special Edition and Altis Grande X CVT-i 1.8 (available with black or dark chestnut interior). Features such as the sunroof, push start, climate control and driving modes are limited to the Special Edition and Grande trims.

Colours

Colours listed on Pakistan pages include Attitude Black, Celestite Gray, Metal Stream Metallic, Super White and Strong Blue. Availability changes by model year, so please ask our team which colours are available now.

Maintenance, parts, resale and warranty

Spare parts are widely available, maintenance is considered easy and affordable, and the Corolla is known for strong resale value. Toyota’s official warranty is up to 100,000 km and can be extended to five years through Toyota workshops. Please confirm the exact warranty terms for the unit you choose.

Main rivals

Honda Civic and Honda City, Toyota Yaris and Corolla Cross, Changan Alsvin and Suzuki Ciaz are the usual cross-shopping choices in Pakistan. The Civic offers more power and a sportier feel, the City is cheaper to run, while the Corolla is chosen for dependability and resale.
